How listings work
Who's listed, what we check, why results come in the order they do, and how Cima makes money from this directory.
Who's listed
Therapists, counselors, addiction counselors, psychiatrists, nurse practitioners and treatment programs (IOP, PHP and outpatient) in Texas. Each one asked to be listed and pays Cima a flat monthly fee for it. A directory of providers who pay to be in it is never a list of everyone, so search your insurance plan's directory too.
What we check
Before a listing goes up we check the provider's Texas license, or a program's state license, is active, and that the listing gives a way to reach them. The license and the date we checked it are on each profile. The provider writes everything else: the insurance they take, their fees, their focus and their words about themselves. We take down listings whose license lapses or that mislead clients.
How results are ordered
Your filters decide who shows. Among them:
- Featured. Providers pay a flat monthly fee for a spot at the top of the searches that match them. At most three show at the top at once, taking turns, a different set each visit. Each one is labeled Featured.
- Books online. Providers whose calendar is connected, so you see their real next opening and can book it without a phone call. Today that's providers who use Cima EHR's online booking.
- Everyone else.
Within each group, the order changes every day, so no one is always first. Order isn't a rating: we don't rank providers by quality, and there are no reviews or stars.
How Cima is paid
Listed providers pay a flat monthly fee, and Featured providers pay a flat fee on top. Cima also sells Cima EHR, the practice software some listed providers use, which is how their listings can show live openings. Nobody pays Cima per referral, click, call, booking or client, and no fee depends on how many clients a provider gets. You never pay Cima anything to search or book.
Practices connected to Cima
If Cima or its owners own or run a listed practice, its listing says "Affiliated with Cima", and it's ordered by the same rules as everyone else.
Your privacy
This site doesn't ask for your name or your health information, and it has no advertising trackers. "Book online" opens the provider's own booking page. On Cima EHR, that page is run by Cima for the provider under a HIPAA business associate agreement, and what you enter goes to that provider only.
Something wrong?
If a listing is out of date or misleading, write to [email protected] with the provider's name. We check it within two business days.
In an emergency, call 911. In a mental health or substance use crisis, call or text 988, any time. This directory isn't for emergencies.
