Programs with the fullest public record come first. Levels of care and insurance are as listed on FindTreatment.gov or the program's own website. Filter them by insurance, language and telehealth.
What outpatient rehab is
Outpatient treatment is counseling for under 9 hours a week, often one or two sessions, while you keep your usual routine. It's also the usual step down after IOP or PHP. It fits when drinking or drug use is causing problems but you're stable at home, or after IOP or PHP to keep your recovery going.
Sessions can be individual, group or both, scheduled around work, school and family.
Not sure which level fits? Find your fit asks four questions, and IOP vs PHP vs outpatient care compares them. A program will also assess you and recommend a level of care.
Questions about outpatient treatment in Tucson
Which outpatient treatment programs in Tucson take Medicaid (AHCCCS)?
46 list Medicaid on their records: A Teleios Recovery, Americas Rehab Campuses, Buena Vista Health and Recovery LLC, CODAC Health Recovery and Wellness Inc, COPE Community Services Inc and 41 more. Call the program, then the member services number on your Medicaid card: if your card names a health plan, the program has to be in that plan's network.
What insurance do they take?
43 accept private insurance, 38 Medicare and 35 TRICARE. The plans named most on their own websites: Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona (13), UnitedHealthcare (13), Cigna (12) and Aetna (11). A program that doesn't name your plan may still take it: call the number on your insurance card and ask whether the program is in network for outpatient treatment, whether you need prior authorization, and what you'll pay.
How much does outpatient treatment cost in Tucson?
Cima Find Care doesn't list prices: what you pay depends on your insurance, the program and how long you need care. Of these 51 programs, 46 take cash or self-pay, 15 have a sliding-scale fee set by income and 20 list state or federal funding for substance use treatment, which can pay for people without insurance. Before you start, ask the program to check your benefits and to put the daily or weekly price in writing.
How long does outpatient treatment last?
As long as it helps: often weekly for a few months, then less often. You and your counselor set the plan and look at it again as you go.
What should I bring?
A photo ID, your insurance or Medicaid card, a list of your medicines and doses, and your doctors' names and numbers. The first visit is mostly an assessment and paperwork, so it can take longer than a regular session.
What if I need help right now?
In an emergency, call 911. In a mental health or substance use crisis, call or text 988, any time. SAMHSA's National Helpline, 1-800-662-4357, is free, confidential and open all day, every day, and can refer you to treatment.
