AA meetings in Austin: how to find an Alcoholics Anonymous or NA meeting today

To find an AA meeting in Austin today, open the Meeting Search at austinaa.org or call 512-444-0071, the 24-hour hotline of Hill Country Intergroup, the Austin area's Alcoholics Anonymous office. Its list shows in-person, online and hybrid meetings, including Spanish-language ones. For drug use, the Central Texas Area of Narcotics Anonymous gives local NA meeting times at 512-480-0004. Both are free, and there's nothing to sign up for.

Updated October 28, 2026. General information, not medical advice. We link to Hill Country Intergroup's and NA's own lists instead of copying them: meeting times change, and they keep them current.

If you need help now: call 911 in an emergency. In a mental health or substance use crisis, call or text 988, any time. In Travis County, Integral Care's 24/7 Helpline is 512-472-4357. If you drink heavily every day, talk to a doctor before you stop: alcohol withdrawal can be dangerous, and a meeting doesn't replace medical care (see alcohol detox in Texas).

Hill Country Intergroup: Austin's AA office

Hill Country Intergroup is the intergroup (central office) for Alcoholics Anonymous in the Austin area. Its stated mission is to run a 24-hour hotline that tells people in the area, and visitors, about AA meetings, conferences and other events, from local to international. The number is 512-444-0071, and the office is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Like other AA offices, it's run by the local AA groups, not by a treatment program or a government agency. AA describes what intergroups do in general: answer calls from people who want help, keep the meeting list current, sell AA literature, and when it makes sense, put a newcomer in touch with a member who'll go with them to a meeting. If you'd like that, ask when you call.

How to find an AA meeting in Austin tonight

  1. Open Meeting Search on austinaa.org and look at today's meetings. Each listing is tagged in person, online or hybrid (both), and some also say who the meeting is for, such as newcomers. There's also a meeting map.
  2. Or use the Meeting Guide app, AA's free app, which pulls meetings from local AA offices' lists and lets you search by place, day, time and type.
  3. Nothing left today, or not sure which to pick? Call the hotline, 512-444-0071, any time.
  4. Check the details before you go. Groups change times and rooms; the intergroup's list is updated when they tell it.

Hill Country Intergroup's list reaches well beyond the city, with groups in towns such as Georgetown and Blanco, so search by the town you're in.

Spanish-language AA meetings in Austin

Hill Country Intergroup's meeting list includes Spanish-language meetings, tagged as Spanish, and its Resources page links to Spanish-language AA (Alcohólicos Anónimos). For treatment in Spanish, see Spanish-speaking addiction treatment in Austin.

NA meetings in Austin (Narcotics Anonymous)

The Central Texas Area of Narcotics Anonymous gives local NA meeting times by phone at 512-480-0004, for Travis, Williamson, Hays, Bastrop and nearby counties (CTANA helpline). You can also search na.org's meeting finder or NA's My NA app. NA, like AA, has no dues or fees, and its only requirement is a desire to stop using. If you both drink and use drugs, you can try AA and NA and see where you fit.

Online and Zoom AA meetings from Austin

Many Austin groups meet online or are hybrid, meeting in a room and on Zoom at the same time; the Meeting Search tags each one online, in person or hybrid. For more choices at any hour, the Online Intergroup of A.A. keeps a worldwide directory of meetings by video, phone, email and chat, and AA's FAQ on online meetings explains how they work. For NA, use the virtual NA meeting search.

What to expect at your first AA meeting

Someone chairs the meeting and may ask whether anyone is new; you don't have to introduce yourself or speak, and no one checks your name. Members share their experience, a speaker tells their story, or the group reads AA literature, depending on the format. A basket goes around for voluntary donations, because AA has no dues or fees. "Open" meetings welcome anyone, "closed" ones are for people who want to stop drinking, and everyone is asked not to repeat who they saw there. More on formats, open vs closed meetings and what the research says in our guide to AA and NA meetings in Texas.

Court-ordered AA meetings and attendance slips in Austin

Hill Country Intergroup's About AA page lists what AA doesn't do, including keeping attendance records and writing letters of reference for parole boards, lawyers or court officials. AA's own answer on proof of attendance is that it's up to each group: some will have a member initial the slip your court or program gave you. Before you go, ask your probation officer or program what proof they accept, then ask the group's secretary before or after the meeting.

Al-Anon and Alateen in Austin

If the person drinking is someone you love, Al-Anon is the group for you, and Alateen is its group for teens. Austin's Al-Anon/Alateen Information Center answers 512-441-8591, and al-anon.org's meeting search lists face-to-face, phone and online meetings. Our guide to Al-Anon, Nar-Anon and family support in Texas explains each group, and CRAFT, the counseling approach with the best record for getting a loved one into treatment.

Treatment, sober living and recovery support in Austin

AA and NA are support, not treatment. If you drink or use every day, or keep going back after trying meetings, add care. Cima Find Care is a free directory: you call programs directly, and no one pays us for referrals.
