AA meetings in Houston: how to find an Alcoholics Anonymous or NA meeting today

To find an AA meeting in Houston today, use Houston Intergroup's meeting list at aahouston.org, the same directory AA's Meeting Guide app shows, or call its 24-hour help line, 713-686-6300 (toll-free from outlying areas, 877-390-6300). Houston Intergroup is the Greater Houston area's Alcoholics Anonymous office, and its list includes online and Spanish-speaking meetings. For drug use, Houston's Narcotics Anonymous helpline is 713-661-4200, in English and Spanish. Meetings are free, and there's nothing to sign up for.

Updated October 28, 2026. General information, not medical advice. We link to Houston Intergroup's and NA's own lists instead of copying them: meeting times change, and they keep them current.

If you need help now: call 911 in an emergency. In a mental health or substance use crisis, call or text 988, any time. In Harris County, the Harris Center's 24/7 crisis line is 713-970-7000. If you drink heavily every day, talk to a doctor before you stop: alcohol withdrawal can be dangerous, and a meeting doesn't replace medical care (see alcohol detox in Texas).

Houston Intergroup: the AA central office for Greater Houston

The Houston Intergroup Association is the intergroup (central office) for Alcoholics Anonymous in the Greater Houston area. It's run by and for the local AA groups, not by a treatment program or a government agency. What it says it does:

  • Runs the 24-hour help line, 713-686-6300, toll-free 877-390-6300 from outlying areas, and helps newcomers, out-of-town visitors and other alcoholics find meetings.
  • Keeps the meeting directory on its website and in the Meeting Guide app, plus an events calendar.
  • Supplies the groups: chips, literature and other services for AA meetings, groups and clubs across Greater Houston. Its bookstore, inside the Intergroup office, sells AA literature, Big Books and chips, in person and online.
  • Keeps a library of AA archives compiled by Intergroup.

AA describes what intergroups do in general: answer calls from people who want help, and when it makes sense, put a newcomer in touch with a member who'll go with them to a meeting. If you'd like that, ask when you call.

How to find an AA meeting in Houston tonight

  1. Open the meeting list at aahouston.org/meetings, or open the free Meeting Guide app: Houston Intergroup says they're the same directory. Search by place, day, time and type.
  2. Search near where you are. The directory covers the whole Greater Houston area, so search by your location or an address rather than scrolling the full list.
  3. Can't find one, or not sure which to pick? Call 713-686-6300, any time.
  4. Check before you go. Groups change times and rooms; the directory is updated when they tell Intergroup.

Spanish-speaking AA meetings in Houston

Houston Intergroup says Houston has many Spanish-speaking AA meetings, and they're marked as Spanish in the Meeting Guide directory. Its Intergroup page also lists Houston's separate Spanish Intergroup as a contact, and its bookstore carries Spanish-language literature. For treatment in Spanish, see Spanish-speaking addiction treatment in Houston.

NA meetings in Houston (Narcotics Anonymous)

The Houston Area Service Committee of Narcotics Anonymous answers a Houston helpline in English and Spanish at 713-661-4200, and NA's regional Spanish line is 888-600-6229. Its map search lists Houston NA meetings, including online-only ones with no street address, and it also posts a meeting list by day of the week. North of the city, NA's Tejas Bluebonnet Region has a separate Northside area for towns including Conroe, Humble, Kingwood, Spring and The Woodlands (TBRNA areas). Anywhere, na.org's meeting finder and the My NA app work too. NA has no dues or fees, and its only requirement is a desire to stop using.

Online and Zoom AA meetings from Houston

Houston Intergroup lists online groups, many of them on Zoom, in the same directory as in-person ones, so the meeting list and the Meeting Guide app show both. For still more choices, the Online Intergroup of A.A. keeps a worldwide directory of meetings by video, phone, email and chat, and AA's FAQ on online meetings explains how they work. For NA online, use the virtual NA meeting search.

What to expect at your first AA meeting

You walk in or log on, and nobody asks for your name or a form. A member chairs and may ask whether anyone is new; answering is up to you. Then members share, a speaker tells their story, or the group reads from AA literature. A basket is passed, and giving is voluntary: AA has no dues or fees. The one thing AA asks is that you don't repeat who you saw there. "Open" meetings welcome anyone; "closed" ones are for people who want to stop drinking. Houston Intergroup has a page for the newcomer, and our guide to AA and NA meetings in Texas covers formats, open vs closed meetings and the research on whether AA helps.

Court-ordered AA meetings and attendance slips in Houston

AA itself keeps no attendance records, and its answer on proof of attendance is that each group decides whether to help: some have a member initial the slip your court or program gave you, and online groups may use a digital method. We didn't find a court-slip policy on Houston Intergroup's site, so ask your probation officer or program what proof they accept, then ask the group's secretary before the meeting starts.

Al-Anon and Alateen in Houston

If someone you love drinks, Al-Anon is for you, and Alateen is its group for teens. In Houston, Al-Anon's Literature Distribution Center answers 713-683-7227, and the Houston Hispanic Intergroup of Al-Anon answers 713-681-1296 (both from Texas Al-Anon's contact list). Al-anon.org's meeting search lists face-to-face, phone and online meetings. Our guide to Al-Anon, Nar-Anon and family support in Texas explains each group and CRAFT, the family approach with the best record for getting a loved one into treatment.

Treatment, sober living and recovery support in Houston

AA and NA are support, not treatment. If you drink or use every day, or keep going back after trying meetings, add care. Cima Find Care is a free directory: you call programs directly, and no one pays us for referrals.
