AA meetings in San Antonio: how to find an Alcoholics Anonymous or NA meeting today

To find an AA meeting in San Antonio today, open the meeting list at aasanantonio.org (AA San Antonio), which shows today's meetings near you, or call the 24-hour hotline, 210-828-6235. For Spanish, the 24-hour line is 210-409-8524. Both are run by the Central Service Office of AA San Antonio, the city's Alcoholics Anonymous office. For drug use, the Esperanza Area of Narcotics Anonymous answers 210-434-0665, 24 hours a day. Meetings are free, and there's nothing to sign up for.

Updated October 28, 2026. General information, not medical advice. We link to AA San Antonio's and NA's own lists instead of copying them: meeting times change, and they keep them current.

If you need help now: call 911 in an emergency. In a mental health or substance use crisis, call or text 988, any time. In Bexar County, the CHCS 24-hour crisis and substance use line is 210-223-7233. If you drink heavily every day, talk to a doctor before you stop: alcohol withdrawal can be dangerous, and a meeting doesn't replace medical care (see alcohol detox in Texas).

AA San Antonio: the Central Service Office

The Central Service Office (CSO) of AA San Antonio is the local AA office, run for the AA groups of the San Antonio area rather than by a treatment program or an agency. It does three things for them:

  • The helpline: 210-828-6235 in English and 210-409-8524 in Spanish, both answered 24 hours a day.
  • The meeting directory for San Antonio and nearby towns, on its website.
  • AA literature, sold at its bookstore and office, open Monday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Tuesday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The office's business line is 210-821-6325.

AA describes what intergroups and central offices like this one do in general: answer calls from people who want help, and when it makes sense, put a newcomer in touch with a member who'll go with them to a meeting. If you'd like that, ask when you call.

How to find an AA meeting in San Antonio tonight

  1. Open "Today's AA Meetings" on aasanantonio.org/meetings and use its near-me search. Each listing says whether it's open or closed, which language it's in, and whether it meets in person or online, and the list tags women's and men's meetings.
  2. Or use AA's free Meeting Guide app, which pulls meetings from local AA offices' lists and lets you search by place, day, time and type.
  3. Nothing left today, or not sure which to pick? Call 210-828-6235, any time.
  4. Check before you go. Groups change times and rooms, and some locations close for a while; the directory is updated when groups tell the office.

AA meetings in Spanish in San Antonio

AA San Antonio runs a separate 24-hour hotline in Spanish, 210-409-8524, and its directory lists Spanish-speaking groups (grupos), each marked with that line. Use the meeting list's language tag to see them. For treatment in Spanish, see Spanish-speaking addiction treatment in San Antonio.

NA meetings in San Antonio (Narcotics Anonymous)

The Esperanza Area of Narcotics Anonymous serves San Antonio and the area around it. Its phone line, 210-434-0665, is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and its meeting search lists the area's meetings, in person and on Zoom. Esperanza is part of NA's Tejas Bluebonnet Region; for New Braunfels and San Marcos, the region has a separate Hill Country area (TBRNA areas). Anywhere, na.org's meeting finder and the My NA app work too. NA has no dues or fees, and its only requirement is a desire to stop using.

Online and Zoom AA meetings from San Antonio

AA San Antonio keeps a separate online meetings page, and its main list also marks which meetings are online. For more choices at any hour, the Online Intergroup of A.A. keeps a worldwide directory of meetings by video, phone, email and chat, and AA's FAQ on online meetings explains how they work. Many Esperanza Area NA meetings are on Zoom, and NA's virtual meeting search covers the rest.

What to expect at your first AA meeting

Nobody asks for your name, and there's no form. The chair may ask whether anyone is new; you can say so, or just listen. Members share, a speaker tells their story, or the group reads AA literature together. A basket goes around for voluntary donations, because AA has no dues or fees, and everyone is asked not to repeat who they saw there. If San Antonio's list shows a meeting as "open," anyone is welcome; "closed" means it's for people who want to stop drinking. More on formats and on what the research says about AA in our guide to AA and NA meetings in Texas.

Court-ordered AA meetings and attendance slips in San Antonio

AA itself keeps no attendance records. Its answer on proof of attendance is that each group decides whether to help: some have a member initial the slip your court or program gave you, and online groups may use a digital method. We didn't find a court-slip policy on AA San Antonio's site, so ask your probation officer or program what proof they accept, then ask the group's secretary before the meeting.

Al-Anon and Alateen in San Antonio

If someone you love drinks, Al-Anon is for you, and Alateen is its group for teens. Start with the San Antonio Al-Anon Information Service, or al-anon.org's meeting search for face-to-face, phone and online meetings; Al-Anon's national line is 1-888-425-2666. Our guide to Al-Anon, Nar-Anon and family support in Texas explains each group and CRAFT, the family approach with the best record for getting a loved one into treatment.

Treatment, sober living and recovery support in San Antonio

AA and NA are support, not treatment. If you drink or use every day, or keep going back after trying meetings, add care. Cima Find Care is a free directory: you call programs directly, and no one pays us for referrals.
